A warning

“They tell the child:

to discover the world already there

and of the hundred

they steal ninety-nine.”

For my money, Malaguzzi’s poem remains the essential polemic: a warning of everything we must guard against if we are to truly emancipate learners and learning.

He saw and he understood and he then shared what he had.

It is incumbent on us to listen. Again and again. And to never not hear.

Liminal

The conscious decision to leave the known where it is and step across the threshold - for young people and adults alike - must be the cornerstone of our work at 100Voices. A commitment to undertake journeys where the destination will be unclear and the full benefits unknown. A commitment to move forward side by side, sustained by a need to find answers to the big questions about ourselves, each other and the world around us. But above all, a commitment to pay back the ninety-nine.
